TOLEDO ǀ O CĂLĂTORIE ÎN SPANIA MEDIEVALĂ ǀ A TRAVEL IN MEDIEVAL SPAIN

Capital of Castile in the sixteenth century, Toledo is a city with a rich history, reflected by the many monuments that can be admired in this spectacular city. The fingerprints left by Moors, Catholics and Jews, along with the Roman and Visigothic remains that remain to this day, explain why Toledo is considered by the Spaniards a heritage city. You can admire in this city Fortress Alcázar, the Cathedral of Toledo. The synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the oldest in Europe. Let us not forget that Domenikos Theotokopoulos, known everywhere as El Greco, has painted much of his paintings in this magnificent city. Built in 1180, the Santa María Synagogue in Blanca perfectly reflects the tumultuous history of the city. Thus, it was erected by Moorish architects for the city's Jewish population, and in 1405 (or 1411, according to other sources) it became a Catholic church, receiving then the name it bears today.
