INSULELE PRINȚILOR ǀ BÜYÜKADA ǀ PRINCES ISLANDS ǀ TURKEY ǀ TURCIA

The islands of the princesses are a group of about nine islands, located near Istanbul, in the Marmara Sea. They are told so because it was a place within reach where Byzantine princes fallen in disgrace or rebellious princesses sent to the monastery could pluck their minds. After the fall of Constantinople (the islands fell into the hands of the Ottomans during the final siege), the tradition was preserved, here being sent sons of sultans or cadans who were no longer loved by the sultana-boss. The tradition of sheltering the rebels and dissidents was preserved even last century when Trotki lived here permanently after he was defeated by Stalin in the struggle for power. To get to the islands, you can take a ferry from Istanbul. (lasts 2 hours and 2 hours). Mediterranean vegetation and, at times, exotic, plenty of tranquility, clean air, warm breeze, holiday atmosphere and no cars on the streets that run only horse-drawn carriages and bicycles.
